IRMO MUSIC FOUNDATION

The Irmo Music Foundation (IMF) is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1998 to support the Irmo High School band program. The IMF has been expanded to support all performing arts programs at Irmo High School.

The Board of Directors for the Irmo Music Foundation is comprised of former band parents and alumni that believe in the values and life skills that participation in the performing arts inherently teaches, including self-discipline, determination, teamwork, respect, integrity, time management and many others. The costs of running successful performing arts programs have always and will continue to dwarf the budgets provided by the school district. The Irmo Music Foundation bridges the gap between what is budgeted and what is needed to allow these programs to thrive.

It has been well documented that students with a performing arts background have better grades, score higher on standardized tests, have a higher rate of college admission, and finish college and post-graduate work at a much higher percentage.
